Outbound by industry

Outbound for legal tech vendors

Law firms buy slowly and decide by partner vote; in-house teams buy faster and answer one tight observation. The firm’s own practice pages tell you which one you are writing to.

Who buys

The roles that sign, evaluate or veto when you sell as one of the legal tech vendors.

Managing partner

Decides at small firms, and sponsors the buy at larger ones. Reads for risk and client confidentiality.

Director of legal operations or firm operations

Runs the evaluation, compares options and handles rollout.

General counsel at a company

Buys contract and matter tools for a small team and wants a quick time-to-value.

Knowledge management or innovation lead

Exists at larger firms and is the internal champion for tools.

Which companies fit, and how to check

Four tests, each answerable from a public page before you spend anything on a contact.

What to say

  • Lead with the practice area, from their page, because it shows you know which lawyers you mean.
  • State how client confidentiality is handled in a line.
  • Ask about the process, not about buying.

What to avoid

  • Promising time savings in hours or percentages.
  • Using “disrupt” or “AI-powered” without saying what it does.
  • Writing to the whole partnership list.

Subject: Employment group at Ashgrove & Pell

Hi {{first_name}},

Your news page announces a new employment practice group, and your careers page lists a Legal Operations Manager.

A new group usually needs its own set of templates before the first matters arrive. Clauseline organizes those templates, and client data stays in your own systems.

Would a short note on how firms set that up be useful? If not, I will not follow up.

How Outlevo would run it

  1. 1

    Read your site

It reads your own pages and drafts who you sell to, starting from tests like “the firm’s practice is the one your product serves” and “it has the size your product is priced for”.

  2. 2

    Find and research

It finds companies that fit and reads each one’s own pages: news page, news or offices page and practice areas page.

  3. 3

    Write with quotes

Each email says only what a page said, such as “your news page announces a new employment practice group”, with the quote and page kept beside it.

  4. 4

    Send with limits

Addresses are verified, every email carries your opt-out line, and sending stops when bounces or complaints rise.

Questions

Should legal tech outbound target partners or operations?
At small firms the managing partner decides; at larger ones operations or knowledge management runs the evaluation and a partner sponsors it. The firm’s attorneys and careers pages show which structure you are looking at.
What should I check first on a prospect’s site when I sell as one of the legal tech vendors?
Start with a lateral partner announcement, a new office or merger and a new practice group launched. Each is public and dated, and each says something about timing that a list of company names does not.
