Cold email follow-up template: one question
Most follow-ups say “just checking in”. This one adds a single question that is easier to answer than the first email’s ask.
When to use it
- A few days after a first email with no reply.
- Your first email asked for something larger than the reader may want to give.
- You want to keep the thread without repeating yourself.
The template
Copy it, then replace the brackets with what you read on their pages.
Subject: One question on [the topic]
Hi {{first_name}},
Before I write again: is [the problem from the first email] something {{company_name}} owns this quarter, or does it sit with someone else?
A one-word answer is enough, and if it is not a priority I will leave it there.
[your first name]Outlevo adds your sender name, postal address and a one-click unsubscribe link under every email it sends, so a template ends at the sign-off.
{{first_name}},{{company_name}}and{{job_title}}are filled for each contact.- Anything in [square brackets] is yours to write, from a page you read.
Why it works
- It removes the ask: the reader only has to point at an owner or say no.
- A named owner is worth more than a meeting with the wrong person.
- It does not use a fake reply prefix or pretend a conversation has happened.

Subject: One question on chilled delivery
Hi {{first_name}},
Before I write again: is next-day chilled delivery, which your shop page now lists, something Fernhill Foods owns this quarter, or does it sit with someone else?
A one-word answer is enough, and if it is not a priority I will leave it there.

Hi {{first_name}},
Should I send the one-page note on [the topic], yes or no? If no, I will not write again.

When should I not use the follow-up with one question template?
This template and its variants pass the check Outlevo runs on its own outbound emails: only known merge tags, no number without a source, no spam wording, at most one link, no fake “Re:” or “Fwd:”, and under a hundred and twenty words.
