AI prompt to fact-check a cold email
The last step before sending. The prompt compares each sentence with your sources and lists what cannot be backed, so nothing unsourced goes out under your name.
When to use it
- Before you send a batch drafted by a person or a model.
- A reviewer needs to see which claims are supported.
- You want the same checks Outlevo applies: sourced facts, honest subject, no pressure.
The prompt
Paste it into the model you use, then replace each bracketed input.
Check this cold email against the sources. Use only the sources; never rely on your own knowledge.

[SOURCES]
For each factual claim about the recipient or their company, return: the claim, supported or unsupported, the verbatim quote that supports it and its address, or "not found". List separately:
- any number that is not in the sources;
- a subject or opening that implies a reply, a prior conversation or a forwarded message ("Re:", "as we discussed");
- spam-like or pressure wording;
- a missing way to opt out.
End with: send as is, fix first, or do not send. Do not rewrite the email.| Input | What to put there |
|---|---|
[EMAIL] | Subject and body. |
[SOURCES] | The page text and facts the email may rely on, with addresses. |
Why it works
- It separates what the email says from what the sources support, claim by claim.
- The list of deceptive patterns matches the ones outbound rules forbid.
- It does not rewrite, so the author keeps control.
An example
Illustrative. The companies and pages below are invented.
Input
EMAIL: "Your careers page lists three Account Executive roles... we work with 200 teams." (illustrative)
Output
Claim: three Account Executive roles. Supported. Quote: "Account Executive (three)" (harborsaas.example/careers). Number not in the sources: 200. Opt-out: missing. Verdict: fix first.
Variants
Batch of ten
Check each of the ten emails below against its own sources and never use outside knowledge. Return one line per email: send, fix first or do not send, and the reason, quoting the unsupported claim. [EMAILS_AND_SOURCES]
Tone only
Without checking facts, list wording in this email that is pushy, flattering or deceptive. Quote it. Never rewrite. [EMAIL]
